Pre KindergartenPeirce School has Preschool for All Programs in three classrooms. Our curriculum is based on the most current research about how children learn. We believe that play is the natural mode of learning for preschool aged children. When children have the opportunity to play, problem solve and negotiate with their peers, they gain self confidence and independence which will support later academic success. We work to develop the child as a whole by providing activities that engage both the body and the mind to enhance learning. This way, every child has an opportunity to succeed and learn. Our classrooms are divided into interest centers where children learn about themselves and the world around them through experimenting, exploring, and discovering. The interest centers include blocks, table toys, painting, writing, art, sand and water, housekeeping, and library.

Each of our three classrooms has a morning and an afternoon class. There is a teacher and a teacher’s assistant with 20 children in each room. The morning class begins at 8:55 am and ends at 11:25 am. The afternoon class begins at 12:15 pm and ends at 2:45 pm.

Applications are accepted for preschoolers throughout the year. They may be picked up at the main office during regular school hours. Children must be three years old by September 1st of the desired school year to be admitted to the program. All children must also be toilet trained. Children who are academically at risk are given priority. Four year old children who live in the district are accepted first, followed by three year old children who live in the district. Out of district children are accepted based on availability.
